Our service allows the educated to share their expertise with children, ensuring that children have the advantage of interacting with people who have benefited most from education.
It makes interactive teaching materials accessible to all, so that children are not forced to live with the disadvantages that are a part of their circumstances.
The teacher for free program welcomes any well-educated person to contribute. All the same, we make sure that the people who teach through this program are well trained.
Here is a brief outline of the various stages involved in this process:
- We select volunteers carefully, after a thorough check into their credentials. We then train them for the teaching program. This course, put together by experts in the field of education and child psychology, is mandatory for new volunteer teachers.
- Prospective teachers are interviewed by senior volunteers and based on the level of commitment and competency are given a rigorous course in teaching the subject of their interest.
- A classroom sponsor then introduces the volunteer teacher to the school and its requirements, their curriculum, etc.
- As the actual teaching commences, the volunteer teacher becomes part of the teacher network and is able to participate in discussions regarding teaching strategies and materials etc., and will receive weekly bulletins about their subject of interest.
- Volunteer teachers are encouraged to physically visit the school once a month or more if possible.
